This upgrade is part of the Technical Improvement Program (TIP); it replaces the glue pots with electronically controlled Nordson glue tank, guns, and hoses.

The hot melt guns are used for both left and right end seals and the girth seal. The end seal assemblies consist of a slide block that slides into the tracks where the glue pots were. The girth seal assembly is mounted onto the vacuum chamber closest to the discharge of the machine.

Note that this assembly is mounted inside the machine and is classified as internal glue. These three guns are connected with Nordson hoses to the glue tank, which has 10-liter capacity. The tank is mounted on a stand and located near the discharge of the machine. The glue parameters are accessed and modified through the main touch screen.

The controller (G&L or AB, Siemens) then uses these parameters for precise and consistent glue stripe placement. Speed compensation is also taken into consideration to maintain the repeatability of the glue application.
